Never been much of a historical fiction type but every now and again there's a title that transcends the invisible divide and captures my magination. The Glutton by A.K. Blakemore is such a book, ostensibly about a man who eats everything and a lot of it. At turns brutal and beautiful, Blakemore has crafted a profoundly human history of an unabashedly disgusting man. A grotesquely fascinating book with masterful evocative prose.
