Bo-Jutsu is a martial art of traditional Japanese long stick fighting. This special martial art has its origin on the Ryu Kyu Islands of Okinawa. In "Kobudo - Bo-Jutsu", the beginner will find a systematic introduction into the basics of Bo fighting techniques. The advanced student will get important insight into training instructions, and will learn detailed patterns of the so-called special forms, which means traditional Okinawan Bo-katas. The reader will learn about the most important Japanese martial art schools and grandmasters. The content of "Kobudo - Bo-Jutsu" is based on the experience which the author gained during numerous studies in Japan and Okinawa. Therefore, authentic Kobudo is presented in this book, originating from the roots of real Japanese martial arts.

Autorenportrait

Helmut Kogel learned a modern system of Karate fighting combinations from a western point of view when he started training in 1973. In 1992 he began to train in German Jujutsu. He also learned Philippine Arnis, Kobudo and Nihon Jujutsu. During several study visits to Japan, he gathered experience in several martial arts and in Kyusho. Under the guidance of Japanese Grand Masters he achieved the degree of 6th Dan in Karate Renshi, 5th Dan in Kobudo and 2nd Dan in Nihon Jujutsu. Kogel founded a Dojo in Germany and was head of a Karate group at the University of Ulm.
