Franco De Masi, a psychoanalyst and a supervisor at the Italian Psychoanalytic Society, is well-known for his research on psychotic phenomena. His book on perversion provides numerous thought-provoking impulses and orientation aids for a better understanding of the complex mechanisms and of the experiences in perverse relationships and structured sexual perversions. De Masi studies the relationship between sadomasochism and other psychological conditions, such as depression, psychoses and borderline disorders and discusses the nature of evil in light of various psychoanalytic approaches.
