Volume 1 People and Their Ideology of the handbook Ideologies in National Socialism covers the complete ideological spectrum of National Socialism in terms of the lives, deeds and influence of its most prominent followers. It deals with those persons who were typical or formative for National Socialism, such as Heinrich Himmler, Baldur v. Schirach, Richard Walther Darré, Walter v. Reichenau or Paul Hausser. The leading actors of the NSDAP, its branches and subordinate institutions, but also of the Wehrmacht and other crucial authorities are presented with special attention to their ideological orientation. In addition, persons are included from the second and third tiers of influence who shaped the ideological orientation of their respective institutions, such as Jochen Peiper, Wolfgang Lüth, Wolfram Sievers or George Ebrecht.
