The large estate Neue Vahr in Bremen is a successful urban model. It was developed at the beginning of the 1960s as a town of the future," incorporating designs by Ernst May, and is one of the largest residential estates of post-war modernity in Germany. With the current Neue Vahr model process, the housing association GEWOBA has launched an exemplary development process for the district, in cooperation with the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. Based on a precise analysis of the existing buildings, infrastructure and green areas, as well as of the residential community, an interdisciplinary team of architecture, city, transport, and landscape planning professionals, along with residents, has developed visions for further development in the future.
