The responsibility with the best use of timber material in Brazil and in the world has required a very specific approach in order to provide insightful conditions that favor its processing and its industrial employment in a sustainable manner. In Brazil, the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources - IBAMA is the defining and regulatory body of this activity for rational conservation, including with regard to the issue of registration of preserving timber products. The Timber Tree-Shaped Structural System - ARROW, object of a of Doctoral Thesis research in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism from São Paulo University (FAUUSP) is the starting point of this work and the leitmotiv of this book, which is being developed, at the time, in Wood and Structural Timber Laboratory - LaMEM/SET/EESC/USP. From the ARROW several case studies were developed in roundwood profiled, with the most varied functional programs, among them are: single and multifamily housings, research centers, educational centers, cultural units, shelter (stop) bus, trough for cattle, among others.
